Carmen Ortiz, Another Bullshit Lawyer

There is something intrinsically sad about the way law is practiced in the United States (and maybe every where). It really isn't about truth, or justice. It's about winning. That's why Carmen Ortiz, the woman who drove Aaron Swartz to commit suicide, did what she did. She didn't give a rat's ass about the case, the fact that the law is shaky about the new technologies, or that the kid she was after was someone with ideals who was certainly not trying to make any money off of what he did.

No, she was all about Carmen. Getting a big win. Getting her name in the books for taking down one of the net's genius citizens. It was all about Carmen's ego.

And frankly, it will tell us a lot about the White House and the Obama administration as to how they react to the petition calling for her ouster. It has pretty much 50,000 signatures now and this is far from over.

What will Holder and Obama and the gang do about Carmen? They are, after all, all about winning too. Lawyer think. Let's be crafty. Let's chalk up the win.

That poor bastard, being told he faced decades in prison for little more then a prank.

Really, I can't think of any thing really harsh enough to say about this woman. She'll probably become semi-famous from this and end up a politician, lying easily abut everything.

If I ever meet her I'm just going to say, Hey, I'm Aaron Swartz. You owe me a life.
